Letzten Samstag haben wir bei herrlichem Wetter einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang durch unsere verschneite Landschaft gemacht und dabei einige Fotos aufgenommen. Daraus ist heute dieses Aquarell entstanden.

Last Saturday we made in fabulous weather, a long walk through our snowy landscape and took some photos. Therefrom today I created this watercolor.

Virtual Paintout Dezember 2010: County Clare, Ireland

Clare ist eine der 26 Grafschaften Irlands. Der Name der Grafschaft leitet sich vom irischen Wort Clár (Planke) ab. Im 12. Jahrhundert gab es einen Übergang aus Planken über den Fluss Fergus an der Stelle der heutigen Ortschaft Clarecastle. Dieser Flussübergang hatte zur damaligen Zeit eine relativ große Bedeutung, so dass daraus der Name für die ganze Gegend abgeleitet wurde.

Nach langer Suche mit Google Street View fand ich schließlich dieses Cottage am Rande von Kilrush. Die ungewöhnliche Farbgebung des Gebäudes und die große unbelaubte Eiche im Vordergrund waren mein Anreiz. Hoffe es gefällt!

Clare is one of the 26 counties of Ireland. The name of the county is derived from the Irish word Clár (plank) from. In the 12th Century there was a transition from planks over the River Fergus at the site of present-day town of Clare Castle. This river crossing at that time had a relatively high importance, so as to provide the name for the whole area was derived. (Wikipedia)
After a long search with Google Street View, I finally found this cottage on the outskirts of Kilrush. The unusual color of the building and the large leafless oak tree in the foreground was my incentive. Hope you enjoy!

Applied the inklines first. Then wetted the paper completely and dropped in the colors. I love it, to let the colors flow. I love to watch them running over the paper and merge together. At this moments I would like to hold on the time. The wet paper with the wet color is the biggest thing!

Today I took a few minutes to draw this small plain air in the landscape where I live. The morning sun was so wonderful that it was fun to sit there drawing.

A drawing I did after Robert Henri's wonderful painting. It took me 3 times to try before I was satisfied with the result.

Too bad, but I found no information who Berna Escudero was. I was fascinated on her expression that for me is a mixture of pride and disdain. Her look is childlike and in an adult manner, it's telling a story...

Umbrella and poppies

My drawing studies are going on and I can see some progress.

Before I painted the umbrella I've drawn it 5! times with pencil on drawing paper. I think I will dream of it tonight :)).

The poppies I painted without any drawing, just paint on the paper and both at the same time. During one was drying, I painted on the other. It tooks me less than a half hour for both. That was a great experience for me because I never thought I can do that!

First work in 2010 is a pencil and charcoal drawing of a nice japanese girl called murataeri. The photo was given under creative commons license from flickr member idua_japan. Thanks to him for the wonderful picture.

I selected this for a drawing because I love the glamourous but innocent look of that girl.

Drawing is the hardest thing for me, but essentially for building up good paintings (I mean). I often draw, but most of my results are only scetches. Tried to draw a little more detailed and with more attention to light and shadow in this two I finished today.

Hi Folks,
ACEO steht für Art Card Editions and Original – diese Karten haben eine gemeinsame Regel, sie haben die Größe von 6,4 x 8,9 cm (2,5" x 3,5"), die Größe einer Sammelkarte. Und dazu sind sie auch gedacht, zum Sammeln und Tauschen. Natürlich kann man sie auch einrahmen und aufhängen.

ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". These cards have one main rule - they are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card.

Hi all,

today I finished this painting of the famous church, which Vincent Van Gogh painted plain air during the last year of his life. I did'nt copy his work but took a photo from a today's view of it. My version is a little bit more realistic, I mean ;)

Gold Hill

Eigentlich habe ich noch ein anderes Bild in Arbeit, auch eine Perspektive-Übung, doch die Wetcanvas Oktober-Challenge hat mir dann doch keine Ruhe gelassen und ich habe sie vorgezogen.

Hier meine Version von 'Gold Hill, Schaftesbury'.

Shaftesbury ist eine Stadt im Norden von Dorset, England. Die Stadt liegt ca. 200 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel. Im Jahre 2001 hatte die Stadt 6665 Einwohner mit 3112 Haushalten.
Die Stadt liegt über dem Blackmore-Tal und ein Stück über dem Fluss Stour. Von verschiedenen Aussichtspunkten kann man Glastonbury Tor und die Isle of Purbeck sehen.
Shaftesbury ist insbesondere berühmt für die Gold Hill, eine treppenartige, steile Straße (welche für "Hovis Brot" in der Werbung genutzt wurde). Quelle: Wikipedia

Gefunden habe ich den Blog vor etwa 2 Wochen, da war es für die Straßen von San Francisco schon zu spät. Aber diesmal wollte ich unbedingt dabei sein und habe es geschafft! Jipieh!

Neues Forum: Kreatives Malen

Vor einer Woche wurde ich von der Gründerin eines noch ganz jungen Forums eingeladen, dort mitzumachen. Ihrer Einladung kam ich sehr gerne nach, da ich Yvonne schon aus einem anderen Forum kannte, ihre konstruktiven Beiträge sehr schätze und nicht zuletzt weil ihre Kunstfertigkeit auf dem Gebiet der Aquarellmalerei bemerkenswert ist.

Da ich bekanntermaßen ein Challenge-Junkie bin, regte ich an, im Forum monatlich ein spezielles Thema zu malen. Yvonne stimmte zu und schlug für den September das Thema Kürbisstilleben vor.

Kürbisse verbinde ich mit Halloween, was ja auch in Deutschland immer mehr Popularität erlangt. Deshalb ist mein Kürbisstilleben sehr schrill ausgefallen.

Die Fotovorlage dazu lieferte freundlicherweise terragina .

Nach langer Zeit melde ich mich dann doch wieder zurück. Die Arbeit hat mir in den letzten Monaten keine Zeit gelassen zu malen. Auch wenn ich hin und wieder ein paar kleine Kritzeleien zu Papier gebracht habe, um nicht ganz aus der Übung zu kommen.

Im August hatte ich aber wieder Zeit den Pinsel zu schwingen und zeige Euch jetzt mal die Ergebnisse.

'Sturm'
Dieses Bild entstand während eines Online-Kurses bei WetCanvas unter der Leitung von OnaK. Sie brachte uns bei, Konturen mit Fineliner mehr Ausdruck zu verleihen. Ich finde es ist eine wunderbare Technik, die zudem noch unheimlich Spaß macht.

Nachdem allmählich die Blumenmotive etwas langweilig werden, experimentiere ich ein wenig mit der Negativtechnik.

Hier wird schichtweise Farbe auf's Papier gebracht, wobei nach jeder Schicht ein oder mehrere Muster hinzukommen.

Ich könnte die Blätter jetzt noch weiter ausarbeiten.
